Fondant Goomba

My son’s birthday party is coming up this Saturday and since everything that was hot when I was a kid is the new hotness again,I find myself doing a Mario cake.

The Goomba above is the first figure I made. I’m terrified of making Mario cause he’s so complicated but I’ll have to give it a go anyway.

More soon! (trying to practice posting from my phone to practice for Comic Con here! lol)

  1. Your Goomba looks great, and don’t let Mario scare you! I made one too (http://efreetintheoven.blogspot.it/2012/09/of-new-beginnings-and-italian-plumbers.html), the trick is breaking him down into sinmpler shapes. The face is a pear with the top cut off; press the top half sligtly with your pinkie finger and you have the eyes area. Make a drop shape and press it where the nose should be. i made the moustache with a flower cutter, by cutting the shape in half. Roll out your red fondant thinly, grease the back of a spoon, then drape the fondant over it and let it dry. Attach it to the head, then build the rest of the hat on top. Now you only have to do the details – hair, eyes, M on the cap…
